Changes Coming to Copper

During the 2018-19 season, Copper Mountain will demonstrate its desire to keep improving. With Copper’s addition of a new restaurant, plus upgrades to existing chairlifts, the resort wants to make sure skiers and riders enjoy the sunshine, eat delicious food, and keep coming back for more.

Prepping snow for summer

At Copper, the snow season doesn’t end with winter.

April can be a bittersweet month as Copper’s winter season comes to an end. For many folks, closing day marks the time to hang up skis and snowboards and plan for summer adventures: hiking, biking, rafting, camping. Noah Schwander has his eyes on summer, too, but as Copper’s Terrain Park and Progression Manager, it’s his job to ensure there’s no end to the snow even though the lifts are no longer spinning.

Why an Expert Skier Benefits from Taking a Lesson

I learned to ski when I was twelve years old.  My dad took my friend and me up to a resort that used to have a rope tow (I know, eons ago) and plopped us at the base of the bunny hill. He showed us how to clip into our skis, gave us a pep talk, then he was off to carve his own turns for a few hours before meeting us for lunch. We managed to muddle our way through.

Woodward Summer Camp Preview

Summer is coming up quick and although many winter resorts will be closing, Woodward Summer Camp is back again. Camp begins June 3rd with availability through the end of July. Skiers, snowboarders, skateboarders, BMXers, mountain bikers, scooter riders, cheer and tumble athletes of all levels can find themselves progressing by attending a week at Woodward Copper’s Summer Camp.

When I showed up to the REI Adventure Station for one of their first Mountain Mixology classes, it was just me and a group of ladies visiting from Minnesota. Our faces slathered in sunscreen and armed with snowshoes, we set off up the Kokomo lift in the brilliant spring afternoon sunshine.
