Shortly after the season begins, Copper will play host to the Putnam Investments NASTAR (NAtional STAndard Race) Pacesetting Trials beginning at 10 a.m. on the trail Lower Bouncer. This will be the first time NASTAR has hosted the official pacesetting trials since 1993. Headlining the national pacesetting trials will be Olympic and World Champion Ted Ligety, along with other current and former U.S. Ski Team athletes including World Champion Daron Rahlves, two-time Olympian Kaylin Richardson, World Championship medalist AJ Kitt, five-time Olympian and X-Games winner Casey Puckett and more. The national pacesetting trials will set the Par Time for the 2015/2016 NASTAR season.
Coinciding with the opening day festivities will be First Tracks U.S. Alpine Ski Team Naming. In preparation for the 2016 Audi FIS Alpine World Cup Season, the U.S. Ski Team will be training on snow at Copper Mountain on the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center, beginning November 1. At 3:30 p.m. on November 6, Copper will once again introduce the full roster of Olympic Medalists and World Champion alpine skiers. The full day pep-rally begins at 2 p.m. with a First Tracks Festival, and gives fans the chance to watch U.S. Alpine athletes train, cheer on the team and even join their favorite athletes for an Autograph Reception at 5 p.m.
