Chocolates, flowers and the usual dinner out are all great ways to celebrate your special someone, but don’t you crave something a little more exciting this year?

Why not change it up and head to Copper for your romantic Valentine’s Day date? You’ll find some great new ways to get cozy together and add some adventure to your relationship with these fun Valentine’s Day ideas!

Moonlight Dine & Ski on 2/14

If you want starlit outdoor adventure combined with live music and a gourmet buffet dinner, you’ll want to be sure to sign up in advance for this popular event since tickets go fast!

You and your date will get to experience Copper Mountain’s magic after dark, where your evening begins with a ride up the American Eagle chairlift. There you’ll be greeted by enchanting views and one hour of skiing/riding off the Excelerator lift. Then you’ll kick off your boots and head inside to Solitude Station for some soulful, live folk, funk, and rock music offered up by Summit County’s Beau Thomas, as you enjoy cocktails and a sumptuous dinner and dessert created for you by Copper’s top chefs.

After your meal you’ll head back out to the snow to thrill to another exhilarating run back to Center Village under those captivating stars. (If you have to miss this special event, don’t worry – there’s one more coming up on 3/23.)

Ice skating and s’mores

If an old-fashioned ice skating date is what melts your heart, this is your place. Grab your skates and head to West Lake for some fun on the ice. Don’t have skates? Then stop by City Pop in Center Village and rent some for the evening. Want to make it even more romantic? Grab your s’mores kits at Kokomo Gift Shop in Center Village, pick up your roasting sticks right next to the fire pit, then snuggle up together by the West Lake Fire Pit and settle in for a cozy evening.

Rocky Mountain Coaster

Located near the American Flyer chairlift, our alpine coaster will take you and your date cruising through an enchanting forest for a romantic getaway. Open in February from 10 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Rocky Mountain Coaster’s 5,800 feet of twists and turns will delight you both.

Copper’s tubing hill

Copper’s tubing hill consists of four lanes with varying speeds and slopes, plus a jump, if you’re feeling adventurous. There’s even a magic carpet lift to get you up the hill, so no hiking involved.

The double tubes are perfect for staying close to your sweetheart during your hour-long ride. Open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Free snowshoe tours

Copper’s Resort Ambassadors will help you and your date discover pristine snow-covered meadows nestled among pine and spruce forests on one of the free daily tours Friday – Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. You don’t need experience and you can choose the tour that best suits your needs and physical ability. You can rent snowshoes at Copper Guest Services in West Village for $20.

Relax at the spa

Need a little bit of pampering? You and your sweetie can enjoy a rejuvenating facial and relaxing massage at the Copper Mountain Spa & Athletic Club. Facials are designed for the high altitude and the stress of the Colorado climate. Massages offered include Swedish relaxation, neuromuscular, sports, pregnancy and deep tissue.

You can both also enjoy the salt water pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub, weight/cardio rooms and racquetball court while you’re there.

Fine dining at C.B. Grille

Shannon Bianco, Copper Mountain’s Leisure Group and Wedding Sales Group Manager, knows a thing or two about romance at Copper. She says C.B. Grille is “one of the best restaurants here at the resort. The pan-seared scallops are my absolute favorite, and they also have a beautiful, extensive wine list.”

In addition, C.B. Grille offers small plates, Angus steaks, fresh seafood, artisan pizzas, and handmade desserts.

Cozy fire pits

If sitting by the fire makes you swoon, Copper offers five beautiful fire pits for you and your date to cozy up to.

  • On the patio of JJ’s Rocky Mountain Tavern in Center Village
  • The Fire Globe in Center Village
  • West Lake Fire Pit on the edge of the lake
  • Outside 10-Mile Tavern in Center Village
  • Outside Incline Bar and Grill in Center Village

Free Kids’ Night Out

As if all these fun Valentine’s Day activities weren’t enough, Copper Mountain Resort Association offers free childcare so you and your sweetie can have a carefree evening.

As long as you spend $30 at any commercial outlet at the resort during the three-hour period per child registered in the program, their care is free and their dinner included. (Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance.)

While you and your date enjoy your romantic getaway, your kids (potty-trained 3-year-olds through age 12) will get to make art, play games, watch movies, and enjoy the interactive Wii.

“This is really an amazing deal, since we usually pay $20 an hour for our own babysitter,” says Bianco.
