Last time I skied at Copper I unzipped my ski bag in Alpine lot and realized I hadn’t packed my gloves. After a quick flash of panic, I collected myself and realized I could easily find a pair at Camp Hale Outfitters in Center Village at the base of American Eagle chairlift. (Did I mention that the gloves I bought are now my favorite gloves I’ve ever owned?)

From satisfying food and drink to trendsetting ski and outdoor gear to Copper’s Guest Services, Camp Hale Outfitters supplies exactly what you need to create your perfect ski day.

(Open 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. daily/weekends until 8:00 p.m.)

Camp Hale Coffee

You’re always in for a treat when you step into the cozy coffee shop to stave off your hunger and thirst before, during and after your ski day. And you’ll find plenty of available indoor and outdoor seating.

Breakfast, lunch, fresh juice, smoothies, coffee, wine and cocktails

The grab-and-go menu offers a wide array of fast, wholesome and healthy breakfast and lunch options, including fresh juices and smoothies, along with pastries, coffee and espresso selections.

If you’re a fan of fresh squeezed juice you’ll love the carrot ginger juice and the tropical greens mix of kale, spinach, pineapple, apple juices. If smoothies are your thing, try the strawberry banana, mixed berry, and mango versions.  The baristas will even mix a fresh juice or smoothie to order.

The selection of breakfast sandwiches come on croissants, English muffins, bagels and gluten-free bread, with combos of eggs, sausage, bacon and veggies. Breakfast burritos and oatmeal round out the list to energize you for your fun day on the hill.

For lunch you can choose from hearty sandwiches, including chicken salad, BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato with savory, house-made bacon), tuna salad, veggie wrap, ham and Swiss and turkey options. You’ll also find gluten-free bread, and they’ll serve your sandwich on a bed of lettuce, sans the bread, if you ask.

If you want to load up on carbs to carry you through the morning, you’ll find a fresh assortment of pastry favorites alongside tasty gluten-free and vegan options.  Grab a little piece of heaven with a cinnamon roll or blueberry, lemon poppy seed and chocolate chip muffins, vegan banana and pumpkin muffins, and gluten-free zucchini and pumpkin bread.  Rather have a breakfast bar? You’ll love the apple cake, raspberry oat, brownie cookie dough and the Copper bar – a coconut brownie with layers of peanut butter and chocolate.

Copper Mountain’s resident pastry chef, Susan Vlass, also serves up the café’s newest sensation – Mason jar cakes.  Dig into the lemon raspberry, Funfetti®, and salted caramel chocolate cakes for a decadent pleasure offered all day long.

And, we haven’t even brought up the coffee yet. Camp Hale Coffee serves Ozo Coffee Company’s brew. Based in Boulder, Ozo roasts their beans on Tuesdays and delivers them to Camp Hale on Thursdays to give you the freshest, tastiest java for your espresso, Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos and everything in between.

The kids will love the hot chocolate and apple cider, and the adults will love the fact that they can get their own coffee with alcohol blend-ins all day long. You’ll love the Peppermint Patti (peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate or mocha), Honey Bourbon Chai (Jim Beam Honey in a chai latte), and the Coppercino (cappuccino with Irish whiskey, Irish cream, and coffee liqueur), among other tasty hot toddies.

As if this awesome menu weren’t enough, Camp Hale Coffee now offers wines on tap all day. Drop in and find your favorite Cabernet, Merlot and red blends, along with your choice of white and rose.
