Summer adventures in the mountains call for sustenance – and we’re talking more than your favorite granola, trail mix and jerky snacks! Now that Copper Mountain is open for its summer activities programming, you can rest assured in knowing there are quality meal options ready to serve up at the base! From biking and hiking to ziplining and go-karting, make sure to pencil in a good, hearty meal after you get your fill of fresh air and adrenaline. Not sure where to get your grub on? Continue below to check out what’s hot and fresh this summer at three of our favorite eateries.

Toast & Co.

Staying true to its namesake, you better believe Toast & Co. serves up the breakfast goods. If you’re into the cozy, lounge-y library vibe, T&C is the spot for you. Eggs aplenty adorn the menu, from smothered breakfast burritos to huevos rancheros, if you’re into a fusion of Mexican flavors. For a lighter load, fuel up with an acai or quinoa breakfast bowl, some avocado toast or a pumpernickel-stacked salmon bagel.  Those who crave a sweeter way to start the day have quite the array from which to choose. You can “Build the Cakes,” and put your own spin on a plate of flapjacks, or indulge in mouth-watering pecan cinnamon roll cake or banana bread Frenchy, with salted caramel and mascarpone!

Can’t make it in time for the breakfast rush? Fret not; small plates and savory items await! However, if you are a Sunday bruncher, take advantage of a complimentary mimosa or bellini (with the purchase of an entrée) and toast to your funday, beginning July 7. Continue the antics with several cocktails, including specialty mules, margaritas, Bloodies and ‘tinis. And, if you’re lucky, you’ll score some mood music, likely in the tune of bluegrass, to pair!

Note: Summer hours vary, so be sure to check the schedule, prior to making plans to get Toasty.

Ten Mile Tavern

If you haven’t yet visited Ten Mile Tavern, what exactly are you waiting for? Friendly staff, from the laid-back bartenders to the smiling servers, welcome you warmly into this haven of beer and comfort food. Worried about missing your favorite team face off? TMT’s got plenty of plasmas mounted for every spectator’s viewing pleasure.

When it comes to the dish on dining, you’ll want to bookmark starters like the grilled sausage board, along with daily cheese selections, beer mustard and pretzel chips (score!), and the spicy chicken empanadas to slide through some chimichurri. BYO (Build Your Own) burgers and pizzas are always an exciting option in customizing TMT eats your way, and a hefty helping of pork belly, tofu and shrimp Pad Thai is ideal after an energized day!

With 20 rotating beers on tap, Ten Mile Tavern is the hoppiest spot in Copper. Check out the chalkboard for rotating selects from local breweries like New Belgium, Oskar Blues, Coors and more! For a real-deal summer meal, pencil in Copper Fry Days, launching July 5, where you can score a full feast of 10 Barrel beer-battered fish, along with hush puppies, fries and remoulade for $12.95. A second way to toast to Friyay: Take advantage of the nightly special (also kicking off July 5), where you can snag a 10 Barrel pint for just $5 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Downhill Duke’s

Still our favorite pitstop for the pup, Downhill Duke’s continues to welcome the al fresco (that’s ‘outdoor,’ if you’re not into fancy talk), foot traffic of human and canine visitors, alike. The south-facing patio tempts you, as you descend the mountain, and welcomes all, daily, through the summer months.

Even though Duke’s bait comes in the form of shared plates, you are never obligated to fork over the goods to your furry friend. Grab a non-doggo companion to split some chicken wing lollipops, an onion ring tower and a mess of Downhill deviled eggs to kick off the patio party. Make sure to order up a fancy pour to enjoy under the sun’s glow, which will keep you warm while you imbibe through the open-air roof.

Kicking off July 4, celebrate Who Let the Dogs Out Thursdays, all summer long, with your choice of a Bourbon Manhattan, a footlong Copper dog, and, of course, a bone for your four-legged bestie – all for just $9.95! You can also try your paw at free bingo from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with prizes up for grabs for each winning card. And, as always, Duke’s hosts Yappy Hour for a barkin’ boozy buzz from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day!
