Copper Mountain and its parent company POWDR are celebrating its $100-million multi-year evolution with astounding transformations. Here are six to get excited about:
1. Lift-serviced access to Tucker Mountain
Explore 273 acres of expert high-alpine terrain on Tucker Mountain with the new Tucker Mountain lift, opening in the 2019-20 season. This three-person fixed grip lift will access terrain that was previously accessible only via snowcat or hiking. The lift will rise over 1,100 vertical feet, reaching 12,441 feet in elevation and allowing more skiers and riders to enjoy steep chutes and gladed trails.
2. Woodward Peace Park
This unique, ever-evolving terrain park concept is found only at POWDR resorts. Danny Davis—an X Games Gold Medalist and U.S. Olympic Snowboard athlete—created Peace Park to be a new type of on-mountain experience. The park reinvents freestyle terrain with a focus on fun and flow and prides itself on being open to the public as a playground for progressive sports experiences.
3. A new mid-mountain lodge
Copper is heightening its on-mountain dining experiences with a new mid-mountain lodge debuting winter 2021-22. The space will replace the existing Solitude Station located at the top of the American Eagle lift, featuring a full-service casual restaurant, bar and lounge, private dining area, cafeteria and 180-degree views of the Gore and Ten Mile mountain ranges.
4. An inspired GM: Meet Dustin Lyman
Copper Mountain’s new president and general manager Dustin Lyman brings a proven track record of leadership to the resort. An avid skier, rider and outdoor enthusiast and an accomplished collegiate and professional athlete—he’s a former tight end for the Chicago Bears—Lyman is a passionate Colorado native. “I’m thrilled to join the team and community at Copper Mountain,” says Lyman. “It feels like home having grown up in Colorado and always being such a big fan of Copper Mountain.” Be sure to say hello to Lyman when you see him around Copper this season.
5. A new hotel opening
New in 2020, stay the night slopeside at Copper Mountain’s 127-room four-story hotel. The property will also feature an outdoor patio nestled along West Ten Mile Creek complete with fire pits and hot tubs, giving guests a chance to unwind and soak in the views after a day on the slopes. Bring the whole family. Even Fido is welcome in the comfortable dog-friendly units.
6. The Copper Premier Pass
Enhance your Copper Mountain ski and ride experience in 2019-20 with the new Copper Premier Pass upgrade. Receive first tracks every day of the season with a 30-minute head start on the American Eagle lift; fast pass access all day through dedicated lines at the American Eagle, American Flyer, Union Creek, Super Bee, Kokomo, Timberline lifts; free premium parking; unlimited winter access to the Copper Athletic Club where the full family can enjoy the fitness center and indoor saltwater pool; and one complimentary high-end ski or snowboard demo.
