There’s nothing better than a mountain wedding. The excitement of the milestone event and celebration of love combined with the tranquility of pine-laced and snow-dusted peaks under a deep only-in-Colorado blue sky is an intoxicating romantic elixir.
Copper Mountain is a dream wedding location. The lodging, the amenities, the catering, the helpful staff, the scenery and the overall mountain ambiance come together to create that vision you’ve been shaping in your mind since your partner popped the question.
Here’s how to plan an unforgettable wedding celebration.
Choose the Venue
The vibe is up to you; go mountain casual, elaborate black tie or something in between. The rugged Ten Mile Range and gorgeous resort slopes come standard. Ceremony locations include Copper Creek Golf Course with fairway and green views, The Chapel with windows facing the mountains, and outdoor villages with that classic Colorado mountain backdrop. New in Summer 2018, whisk your guests up to the new Koko's Hut located at the top of the Kokomo lift. The floor to ceiling windows provide an incredible view of Ten Mile.
For the reception, there’s the Grand Hall overlooking the golf course, attractive JJs Tavern in East Village and upscale CB Grille in Center Village, among others.
Build the Menu
Peruse Copper’s 20-plus-page wedding menu for an incredible culinary selection as casual as a barbecue buffet and as elegant as plated lobster and filet. Copper Mountain is all about the one-stop-shop for food, drink, bar and catering staffing, room set-up and take down—it’s all done for you.
“Really, most weddings only bring in floral centerpieces and call it done,” says Copper Mountain Wedding Sales Manager Shannon Bianco. Bonus: A Copper wedding service coordinator will assist with everything Copper Mountain related, from food and beverage requests to room décor.
Entertain the Guests
Most couples choose Copper Mountain for its easy-going resort atmosphere and abundant group activities. Weddings transcend beyond a one-night event into a long weekend or weeklong experience. The bride’s family and groom’s family come together over rounds of golf, hiking, biking, zip-lining and more. The free Summit Stage bus shuttles guests back and forth to Frisco for shopping, dining and exploring without having to drive.
Guests select lodging spanning hotel-style rooms up to five-bedroom condos and spacious multi-family Lewis Ranch homes. Summer brides and grooms receive a complimentary one-bedroom stay when guests book 20 room nights.
Don’t Forget About…
Provide smart party favors for guests, such as personalized water bottles, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm—anything offering up high-altitude comfort.
Copper Mountain has an on-site pastry chef that creates to-die-for desserts. Trending now: a small six-inch cutting cake accompanied by dessert trays filled with cupcakes, cannolis, sweet bites and chocolate-covered strawberries or build-your-own sundae bars and fireside s’mores.
It’s a good idea to choose a photographer who has been here before; they know the lay of the land. Check the resort’s preferred vendor list.
What about winter weddings?
They’re on the rise, says Bianco. Most Copper Mountain weddings take place mid-June through Labor Day, but off-season fall and winter weddings can knock it out of the park with stunning autumn foliage and bright, white snowy backdrops.
